Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking a seasoned and dynamic Head of Commercial Banking to drive the growth of its Hong Kong operations. Reporting to the General Manager, this role involves full management and P&L responsibility for the commercial banking sector, ensuring alignment with global business strategies and local market needs.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the Hong Kong branch's commercial lending and fee income activities, ensuring profitability and growth.
Collaborate with the global leadership team to design and implement business strategies tailored to the Hong Kong and Greater China markets.
Develop a comprehensive business plan focused on achieving profitability, market penetration, and an optimal product mix while maintaining cost efficiency.
Increase fee income by assessing organizational capabilities and adjusting structures to develop high-performing teams that better serve customers.
Identify and engage with customers, coordinating product and service development to meet their needs.
Ensure compliance with both US and local regulations, adjusting products, distribution strategies, and marketing tactics as necessary.
Maintain effective communication with headquarters to uphold global standards and requirements.
Work closely with the wealth management team to target clients across Greater China.
Promote the bank’s strategic advantages as a US bank in the Greater China market.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree essential; Master’s degree preferred.
Fluency in English and Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese).
Extensive experience in the financial industry and commercial banking, ideally in a senior leadership role.
Broad knowledge of commercial banking products, including cash management, commercial lending, asset-based lending, vendor finance, trade services, and treasury/foreign exchange.
Proven track record in managing P&L and growing a banking business unit.
Familiarity with both US banking practices and the Hong Kong banking market, including regulatory and compliance requirements.
Strong strategic insight and business acumen to drive operations forward and identify new business opportunities.
Excellent networking skills with access to top executives and high-net-worth individuals.
Proficient in credit and business risk assessments, balancing local infrastructure readiness with global standards of risk and control.
Demonstrated leadership and ability to develop and retain staff, ensuring a pipeline of skilled professionals to support growth.
High integrity and commitment to ethical business practices aligned with the parent company’s values.
Decisive, strategic thinker with the ability to adapt and lead organizational change.
Customer and performance-oriented mindset with a strong team player attitude.
